We’ve previously talked about what makes a pressure injury prevention program successful. Now, knowing that, how do you then create that program?
Frustrations in building facility-wide programs are common, and almost expected. Clinicians experience many common challenges, including:
- not knowing where to start
- having tried and failed before
- receiving strong pushback from the people whose cooperation you need most.
Lack of budget, overwhelmed staff and competing demands on time and high turnover all also contribute to the challenge.
For clinicians who are just starting out, and for those who are struggling to build pressure injury programs in their facilities, Holly Kirkland-Kyhn offers some helpful advice.
